We Will Remember Them | New video

This week at Exeter Cathedral School we have been marking Armistice Day through collective acts of remembrance.

We are pleased to share with you ‘We Will Remember Them’ – a new video made to help us reflect on those we are remembering, which includes current Year 8 pupils here at Exeter Cathedral School:

The service

On Thursday morning we gathered at Exeter Cathedral to mark Armistice Day as a school – the service led by Bishop Martin.
One of our choristers, Dominic M, played ‘The Last Post’, followed by ‘Reveille’, which was played by the Headmaster, Mr Featherstone.

Amongst a reading of Siegfried Sassoon’s moving poem ‘Aftermath’, and Gabriel Fauré’s Pie Jesu sung by the Choristers of Exeter Cathedral School, the service was filled with a profound sense of stillness and peace as we took time to remember.

Activities

Year 2 marked Armistice Day by watching a slideshow about what this important day is and why we observe it, followed by a reading of the book ‘Where the Poppies Grow’ by Hilary Robinson and Martin Impey. Afterwards, the children painted poppies before marking the two minutes silence at 11.00.
