Staff Appointments

Head of Upper Years

Mrs Salter has decided that, now that her hands are a little fuller than before she went on maternity leave (!), she would like to step down from her Head of Upper Years role. Polly has done a terrific job in this key pastoral role, building it from its conception in September 2016 to the very significant role that it now is.

Accordingly, we held an interview process for the Head of Upper Years post, and I am delighted to share with you all that Mr James Meeke has been appointed Head of Upper Years from September. Mr Meeke knows the Upper Years pupils and systems inside out: he has long been an Upper Years tutor and works very closely with the senior pupils in his role as Head of Scholarships and Academic Enrichment. Having previously been a Head of Sixth form and a Lay Chaplain, Mr Meeke has considerable experience of pastoral care and academic support, and he has already begun the handover process with Mrs Salter. Mr Meeke will write to all Upper Years parents/guardians over the summer. Meantime, his email address is [email protected].

Head of Lower Years

Following Mrs Reddington’s promotion to the new Senior Leadership position of Deputy Head (pupils), we set about recruiting her successor as Head of Lower Years.

I am delighted to announce that Mrs Trudy Porter has been appointed Head of Lower Years from September 2018. Mrs Porter has worked in our Pre-Prep and as a Lower Years class teacher for a number of years, and has been Housemistress and Deputy Head in previous schools. She will be well known to all of you as a great source of wisdom, compassion and kindness, and she will be a wonderful addition to the pastoral team. She has begun the handover process with Mrs Reddington, and will write to all Lower Years parents/guardians over he summer. Meantime, her email address is [email protected].

Acting Director of Sport (maternity cover)

Mrs Ross is due to go on maternity leave shortly after the start of the new academic year. Earlier in the term we interviewed for the post of Acting Director of Sport (maternity cover), and I am delighted to confirm that Mr Andrew Pennington has been appointed. Mr Pennington has huge experience of sport at ECS, and will be leading our Sports Department during Mrs Ross’ maternity leave. He will be in touch with parents/guardians as and when he begins in the post, and you are welcome to contact him via [email protected].
