Year 8 girls became inventors of the future at the EDF STEM workshop at Exeter University on Wednesday. They took part in a number of workshops aimed at blending traditionally ‘male’ roles with ‘female’ creativity. The results were amazing: Star Wars inspired droids we’re programmed to collect coffee and drive it to another room. The title of the problem being ‘Solve World Problems’. Mrs L-J and Mrs Ball feel this qualifies!

Girls were hosted by a range of volunteers in the STEM careers including Neuroscience, Nuclear energy, medical tissue research and many more.

Virtual Reality, Smarter Living and Future Design were all demonstrated with interactive presentations during the afternoon.

We hope that after today,

“The force is with our female STEM pupils”.
