RNIB and Guide Dogs Cooking with Confidence Workshop

In support of the Guide Dogs Association and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), ECS played host to the culinary ‘Cooking with Confidence’ event in Kalendar Hall.

Staff from Guide Dogs and RNIB ran a cookery and cake baking workshop for young people with visual impairments, providing an opportunity for the children to share their experiences, bake, socialise and ultimately, have fun.

Children came from across the southwest, travelling from as far as Bath and Cornwall to attend the event. While the children were baking, an informative workshop was held for the parents. After a successful morning of ice-breakers, lunch and cake baking, the children laid on an elaborate afternoon tea for their parents.

A member of the Guide Dogs’ team was very pleased with the event, ‘It is with thanks to the Exeter Cathedral School for giving us the use of their kitchens and hall for free, offering us a fantastic central location and to RNIB who supported the event with staff and resources. This all made it possible for us to offer this valuable and fun filled day to our young people and their families.’
