Linking with our Rainforest topic, our English text has been the excellent ‘Where the Forest Meets the Sea’ by Jeannie Baker, set in Daintree rainforest in Australia.
We have studied the language and the story itself, with a special focus on the fascinating collage illustrations which tell the majority of the story. The children created their own forest collages, inspired by the book, and we would love you to take a look at them! The unit culminated in a writing task – turning the story into a personal recount. Every version of the story was different, full of super description and imagination – some are reproduced here!
