Minibeast Explorers!

Year 1 went on a minibeast hunt in Science, exploring what habitats we could find in Hall House’s beautiful garden. We wanted to observe and record what animals we found, but also where we found them. Was their habitat dark or light, wet or dry, cool or warm?

The next day we focused on woodlice. In our groups, we used our observations to help us build a woodlouse habitat that would keep them healthy and happy. Once our little temporary guests were introduced, we observed and recorded how many woodlice were in each area of the habitat after 1 minute, then 5 minutes. Did this match our predictions? Why did they prefer these areas?
A great week of scientific learning and skill building!  Well done, Year 1!
