Getting to know the Teacher

Amy W

This week we are delighted to interview Mrs Stallard. Here are some of the questions we asked her:

Why did you become a teacher?

I became a teacher because I wanted to do something interesting and not just sit behind a desk all day! When I was at school there were a few teachers who really inspired me and I wanted to do the same for children.

Who inspires you?

The Queen. She’s 92 and she is still working! She always seems very calm and professional. I wouldn’t like her job though!

What do you want to do next?

I want to stay doing what I do because I love it!

What job did you aspire to do when you were younger?

I really wanted to be a park keeper!

Why ECS?

I chose ECS because it is a friendly school, and everyone knows each other. I know almost every child in the school, and I think that’s great!

Top Dog

Zhi Y and Ben T

A stray dog is believed to have become the first pooch to reach the top of a Himalayan mountain peak! The dog spotted a group of climbers on a mountaineering expedition in Nepal and decided to join them in scaling the 7,129m mountain.

Expedition leader, Don Wargowsky, named her Mera after the area they first met her. She so impressed the other climbers that some people thought she brought them good luck. Don said that he shared his tent with Mera at night. We don’t know if she snored though!

Top Football Goals in History

Edward K

George W Weah

Many people will remember George Weah’s incredible goal he scored for AC Milan in 1996. He managed to pick up the ball in his own penalty area before running the whole length of the pitch to slot it past the keeper. On his way he evaded defenders with ease. He was voted the best goal scorer of the 20th Century!

Zlatan Ibrahimović

In 2012, Zlatan scored one of the best goals ever in an international friendlty against Engliand. When England goalkeeper Joe Hart made a poor headed clearance outside his box, Zlatan leapt into the air and performed an amazing overhead kick into the England goal from 30 yards!
