Year 8 Camp

On the week commencing the 10th July, Year 8 pupils packed their bags and journeyed to Gidleigh Village Hall, in deepest Dartmoor, for the annual Year 8 Camp.

Over the course of five days, the pupils enjoyed time together and got stuck into a range of activities: climbing, team building exercises, swimming, body boarding, kayaking and a scenic (long) walk!

When asked, the Year 8s were overflowing with praise, especially about the food, which was brilliant- Mrs Lake-John is clearly an exceptional cook. Their time around the campfire, singing songs and roasting marshmallows, also made a lasting impression.

‘I really enjoyed the body boarding although it was extremely tough and the waves were really horrible, but it was really great.’  –  Eva-May S

‘Sitting around the campfire in the evenings was really good fun.’ – Felicity P

‘I enjoyed sitting around the campfire and singing songs in the evening.’ –  Issy M

‘My highlight was cards around the campfire, we were playing Blackjack. My favourite activity was canoeing.’ – Hector K

‘I really enjoyed the canoeing and being around the campfire. The teachers were brilliant, and the camp had a good atmosphere.’ – Nick P-M

‘I liked getting our Year 8 hoodies, my hoody is bright pink. Eating marshmallows around the fire was great fun too.’ – Bella C

Thank you to Mr Pennington, Mrs Ball, Mrs Lake-Johns and the GAPs for running the camp and making it such a memorable occasion for our soon-to-be leavers!
