A perfect summer’s sporting week filled with rounders, cricket and athletics!

On Monday, the Girls U10A&B rounders teams hosted The Maynard School at the County ground, a fantastic fielding display by both sides saw a close encounter which ECS were just edged out in, Xanthe S was awarded fielder player of the match with Fearne R awarded batting player of the match.

Wednesday saw a whole host of fixtures taking place, the U13A&B rounders teams hosted St John’s at the county ground. Both ECS teams put in fantastic performances and some great batting displays to both come away with victories. Tomma C, Evie Land Lottie F were all awarded players of their match.

Meanwhile the U11A&B and U10 rounders sides travelled to Stover.

Over on the cricket pitch the U13A team made the journey up the M5 to play Queens and in a game described as a missed opportunity lost narrowly, Sam W was awarded player of the match The U11A&B cricket teams hosted a very strong Queens team and had a tough afternoon.

On Thursday the U8 and U9 rounders teams travelled to Exeter School, looking to build on last week’s impressive performances against St Peter’s. All girls played in the fixture which saw an impressive victory for ECS and a narrow defeat, it was a great afternoon of rounders with a particularly strong batting performance from ECS. Players of the match were awarded to Ellie May Ball and Rosalila G for their batting and Hetty T for her fielding.

On Friday afternoon a group of students are travelling to Blundell’s to take part in their Annual Prep School Athletics Competition, I will of course provide you all with a debrief next week! Next week promises to finish the half term off with a bang with highlights of the week including U8 & U9 ECS Athletics festival at Exeter Arena, U11 cricket fixture and U10 & U11 rounders fixtures against St Peter’s, and Junior Sports Day.
