The week began with some Anglo Saxons in PE, Year 4 were testing their balance on various types of equipment including a wobble board, a space hopper and a balance beam. On the same day the U10 and U11 girls were hosting Maynard to some exciting netball matches in Games lessons. Players who showed real promise were Charlotte J and Millie C. Special mention to Margot CM who captained her team for the afternoon and led by example with her effort and determination.

On Tuesday the Year 3 and 4 pupils sampled some cross country running, they braved the weather and the muddy fields for an enjoyable afternoon. It was encouraging to hear lots of support of one another along the way, showing real ECS spirit. Meanwhile we held our Internal Sports Scholarship Assessments. It was brilliant to have so many talented pupils having the confidence and passion for sport to put themselves forward for this opportunity.

Wednesday saw a block fixture of hockey against Queens for Year 5-8 while the senior girls travelled to Blundell’s and Year 5 and 6 girls played a triangular with Maynard and West Buckland. Player of the afternoon for netball was Ellenna C, Miss Norris was incredibly proud of Ellenna’s attitude and the performance she gave for our school.

The Year 3 boys were hosts to St John’s on Thursday afternoon in their Games lesson, it was exciting to see the whole year group work hard for each other. Lucas T, Harry J and Zach H led the way with great performances for their team.

A huge thank you for the continued support with sport this half term, it certainly has been a busy one. As always, we encourage you to brave the side-lines of the pitches/courts, we promise a hot cup of tea will be waiting (maybe even a biscuit too!).

Best wishes for an enjoyable half term break,

Emma Ross
Director of Sport.
