On Saturday 16th November the U9 boys and girls represented ECS at the annual Blundell’s Hockey and Rugby Festival. Due to the amount of rain that had fallen during the week, there were serious doubts over the playing conditions of the fields. Much to the boys’ excitement, the festival went ahead. The boys played some great rugby showing excellent teamwork and resilience. The girls showed great link up play and created lots of goal scoring opportunities, well done everyone and a big thank you to the staff and also the parents who came to support.

Mid week the U11 hockey team made the journey to West Buckland to play in a triangular against the home side and also St John’s. Mr Guildford was particularly excited to be heading back to old pastures where he went to school. The U11 team gave two excellent performances and this should give them confidence going into their fixture next week against Maynard.

On the rugby side of things, the U13 boys were hosted by Bramdean on Wednesday 20th November and I know Mr Pennington and Mr Bartlett were extremely proud of their performances. Mr Haywood and the U11 boys went off to St John’s for a highly contested match where the boys did incredibly well in muddy conditions.

Unfortunately on Thursday the wind, rain and cold got the better of us and the U8 and U9 rugby triangular against Exeter School and Bramdean was cancelled. This however, gave both boys and girls the chance to practise some close skills indoors and work on specific aspects of the game.

No Senior Games or Year 3 & 4 swimming today as we are all rehearsing for what will be a wonderful concert this evening.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Ross
