Senior Swimming Gala (Years 5-8)

Hot and loud but enormous fun – what a wonderful afternoon of swimming we had on Monday! All the pupils in years 5, 6, 7 and 8 were involved; they didn’t just swim superbly but they also cheered on and supported their team mates and the swimming House Captains did a sterling job of organising their teams. Obvious to anyone watching was that we have some very talented pupils but also clear to see was the effort put in by swimmers of all abilities whose  determination to push themselves in spite of being well out of their comfort zone was very impressive to see. Points wise, the gala was fiercely competitive, with two houses only a couple of points apart for most of the gala. Going into the final race, only one point separated the top two teams, and the Canon, a relay involving the fastest girl and boy from each year group did not disappoint. After 8 lengths, there were only 2 one hundredths of a second between the first two teams and the win for Quivel gave them enough points to squeeze ahead into first place.

1st – Quivel  (110)

2nd – Bronescombe (107)

3rd – Stapledon (93)

4th – Grandisson  (81)

A very well done to everyone who took part, a huge thank you to all the staff, thank you too to all the student helpers and finally a very big thank you to all the parents and families who came along to support and added so much to the atmosphere.
