Mummification with Year 3

On Tuesday, Year 3 spent the morning at RAMM museum learning about Ancient Egypt.

The children took part in three exciting activities, they played Senate, an ancient Egyptian board game which is similar to chess/draughts. They took part in an activity to mummify a body, removing the organs (including the brain being pulled out of the nose!) washing the body, wrapping it in bandages, adding Amulets to the Mummies bandages to help transfer strengths to the afterlife, before finally adding precious necklaces and jewellery which were taken with the Mummy to the afterlife.

The children were also given the chance to handle and study different Egyptian relics, using their detective skills to try and work out what they are and what they are used for.
