Looking out for each other in the Boarding House

⭐️ Star Boarder

This week’s Star Boarders are Gen and Isaac. As a group of boarders, mostly Year 8 children, were playing hockey on the playground in the evening, I watched from the distance and witnessed something that always makes me proud of the boarders.

Looking after each other

Rupert wanted to join in on their game. He picked up a stick and started running around. Gen, amongst other pupils, was very patient and supportive. They all made him feel welcome and tried to help him, slowed things down and gave him more time on the ball.

This is a perfect example of one of our ‘ECS Habits’: The habit of looking after each other. Well done, Year 8s.

Boarding Council

On Tuesday evening we held our first Boarding Council meeting of the new term. At ECS, we encourage all pupils to share their ideas and opinions, this is why Hannah was invited to attend the meeting along with the members of the Boarding Council.

Amongst discussions about evening and weekend activities, which new board game to get (Uno) and the return of ‘tuck’ every week, I had asked the council members to talk to all the boarders regarding a possible change of TV streaming service. Two votes were held and the majority of the boarders decided that Disney Plus was the best service and that we should stick with it.

Relaxing craft evening

Amongst some of the activities on offer this week, Miss Barr organised a craft evening. Boarders had a lot of fun making and painting things.

This weekend is our first Exeat Weekend of the Lent Term. I hope all the boarders have a wonderful time with their families and/or guardians.
