Exploring the Hall House garden

In Reception this week, we have been enjoying the Autumnal sunshine and exploring the Hall House garden.

Each week, Reception Frogs and Ladybirds come together for an afternoon of Outdoor Learning. This entails a variety of activities designed to support the weekly learning objectives.

This week, we have been looking at patterns, so the children were encouraged to make their own patterns using natural resources, such as leaves, conkers, acorns and sticks. They were also able to make patterns with the loose parts play equipment, which could then be used as an obstacle course to practise their balancing skills on. We explored the terrace gardens in small groups, equipped with magnifying glasses to spot patterns in nature, insects and minibeasts, and signs of the changing season.

We had a lovely afternoon, and are looking forward to our next session of Outdoor Learning on Tuesday when we will be enjoying the front garden of Hall House.
