Boarding House News

Star Boarder of the week this week is the wonderful Rowan A. She is one of the most generous and caring people I have ever met in my life. It is a privilege to have her in the boarding house on a daily basis and it was not surprising to see every single member of the boarding staff team vote for her. Well done Rowan!

This week has been extremely busy for our boarders. On Monday evening we had a Christmas buffet, exchanged Secret Santa presents and had a very exciting karaoke evening (all in the gallery below).

On Wednesday night, we took 33 children to see Aladdin the pantomime at the Corn Exchange. It was a wonderful performance and all the children had an amazing time. It finished quite late and we came back to the Boarding House just before 10pm. I have to admit I was extremely impressed with the behaviour and attitude of all our boarders during the evening. By 10.30pm they were all in bed sleeping and nobody woke up in the middle of the night with homesickness or any kind of upset.

I am proud of all our full boarders and regular boarders who have looked after the younger ones, some of them having never boarded before. The smiles on their faces, their laughter and their feedback during the evening have made every second of the organisation of such an evening worthwhile.

Obviously, it is very hard work and I could never put things like this together without the help of a wonderful boarding team, so thank you Miss Rhodes, Miss Tyler, Miss Higham, Mr Abrahams and Mr Featherstone for all their hard work and help during the evening and in the morning.

Finally, just a quick reminder that the Boarding House will be closing at 12.30pm tomorrow Friday 14th December. Our lovely boarders are allowed to leave anything they want in their dorms (as long as it’s tidy) but will pack essentials such as musical instruments to take home.

On behalf of the boarding team, I wish you all a wonderful festive season. Merry Christmas and see you all in 2019!
