New Boarding House Matron:

The Boarding House is delighted to announce the recent appointment of Ms Pamela Baxendale as its new Boarding House Matron. Ms Baxendale has a range of experience, having worked in Catering, HR and Higher Education. Prior to her appointment at ECS, Ms Baxendale was Support Coordinator at Huddersfield University’s Student Wellbeing and Disability Service. Ms Baxendale has two grown-up children, who both reside in Devon; she enjoys cooking, singing and music – ideally suited to working in our musically-inclined boarding house!

Ms Baxendale will start her new role in September 2019.

For the last Friday of this academic year, we have decided to reward a group of three very special pupils who have been fantastic throughout the year. So instead of having a Star Boarder of the Week, we have decided to have Star Boarders of the Year. Lottie CC, Rowan A and Izzy M fully deserve this award for having been perfect role models for all the other boarders throughout the year. They have worked hard on their prep, they have showed positive attitude, they have been reliable, they have helped around the house, they have looked after younger boarders, they have made visitors feel welcome and to some extent, they have kept their dorm relatively tidy. Well done girls, you are wonderful people!

It is with great sadness that we are saying farewell to our fabulous Year 8 boarders. This year has gone very quickly, Year 8s are ready to move on and start new adventures in their new schools but members of the boarding team are not ready to see them go yet. They have been a hardworking, happy, reliable bunch of children and it has been a pleasure to look after them. On behalf of the whole boarding community, I wish them all the best for the future. We will miss you!

The academic year 2018-2019 is not even over yet but I am afraid I already have to mention the arrangements for next term.
School will start on Wednesday 4th September but the Boarding House will open on Tuesday 3rd September at about 5.30pm. Before that, I will be attending the ECS Welcome Tea Party in Hall House to meet and greet our new pupils and boarders. All the boarders and their  parents are welcome to come to the Boarding House between 5.30pm and 7pm to drop off their children, help them unpack all their belongings and spend some time with them. This will give everyone a chance to meet the other boarders and their parents. For the occasion, there will be sandwiches, cakes and drinks in the Boarding House common room.
I would be extremely grateful if you could email me at [email protected] before 31st August to let me know if you choose to drop off your children and belongings on 3rd September between 5.30pm and 7.00pm.
I am looking forward to seeing you in September. When you arrive at the school, please can you ring 07375 546 174 and someone will come and open the front door for you.
I hope you all have a wonderful summer holiday. Travel safe and remember to read!
