We are thrilled to launch our new guaranteed places scheme: ECS Pathway Places.
Launching in September 2025, ECS Pathway Places is an innovative collaboration with four of the region’s finest Senior Schools – and our four biggest destination schools – to guarantee a Year 9 place for your child when s/he is in Year 6 at ECS.
Unique to ECS: our Year 6 pupils can sit the admissions assessments for these leading senior schools, and secure themselves a guaranteed place for entry in Year 9.
As parents/guardians, you have total peace of mind that your child’s educational journey beyond ECS is secure.
Our senior pupils reap the benefits of the ECS Year 7-8 experience, secure in the knowledge that they have their senior school place already guaranteed, before transitioning at 13 – automatically and without further assessment – to these exceptional senior schools. Those wishing to sit for scholarships would continue to do so as part of their Year 8 experience at ECS.

Exeter School is delighted to work closely with Exeter Cathedral School and to be part of the Year 6 early testing scheme. This initiative strengthens the excellent relationship between our two schools and ensures that pupils experience a smooth, positive transition into senior school life.
