Jazz & Rock Night 2025 – A Celebration of Music at ECS
We are still buzzing from our recent Jazz & Rock Night 2025, held at the Exeter Phoenix Theatre. The evening was captured in a short film that has already been described as one of the most powerful school videos ever produced. The highlight features an extraordinary performance from Mariah (Year 8), woven into a montage of ensembles and behind-the-scenes moments. In just three minutes, the film encapsulates everything that makes music at Exeter Cathedral School so special: joy and excitement, nerves and concentration, hard work and dedication, whole-school inclusivity, teamwork and mutual support, confidence balanced with humility, and extraordinary performances across the board. When we say that Music at ECS is Elite but not Elitist, this is exactly what we mean. When we speak about the Arc of Performance, this is it brought vividly to life. The pupils featured are aged between 9 and 13, yet the maturity, artistry, and camaraderie on display are truly inspiring. This video is a testament to the values we hold dear: nurturing talent, celebrating individuality, and championing each other as part of a vibrant musical community. We are delighted to share this film with you, so that you may experience the joy, pride, and goosebumps that come with seeing our pupils shine.
